Activities/Attractions: Tasmania is a relatively compact state, and most tourist attractions seem like they are almost 'around the corner'. Be aware that many Tasmanian roads can be narrow and windy, so the travelling times you are usually longer than you may plan!

There  are so many beautiful natural areas, and unique man-made attractions in this area of Tasmania, it would be almost impossible to get bored! There are plenty of sights to see and things to do for ALL ages. Within only 30 minutes drive of Glencoe Rural Retreat you will find pristine natural wilderness, superb dining, great shopping, movies, bushwalking, cruises, scenic flights, sports facilities, and much, much more.

General Information: Welcome to Glencoe Rural Retreat ("A place of Harmonie...") in Barrington, Tasmania ... an ideal place to explore our diverse region from. You can be assured that a warm bed, and relaxing atmosphere awaits you at the end of an exhausting day! Visit us, and try to prove us wrong..! Glencoe Rural Retreat is a mere 30 minutes away from the Fast Ferry service in Devonport, the Devonport Airport, and coastal bus services; 60 minutes drive from the city of Launceston, and a short 40 minute cruise from the natural beauty of the large Tasmanian Wilderness National Parks.

Glencoe Rural Retreat is a beautiful old building surrounded by  lovely gardens, and superb further views to the dominant view of nearby mountains and the lush rolling hills of the North West Coast. Originally built as a dairy farm, Glencoe sits amidst fertile Kentish Plains overlooked by craggy Mount Roland. Glencoe is a gateway to Cradle Mountain, Lakes District and the World Heritage Wilderness area. The house has been lovingly restored with its surrounding gardens and acreage maintaining an atmosphere of rural peace and tranquility.

• After successful careers in French Hospitality including many years at the Ritz of Paris, in 1987 Ginette & Remi Bancal decided to move to Australia, where Remi was involved in the success of restaurants such as Miettas in Melbourne and Banc in Sydney
  
• In 1999, Ginette & Remi established Calstock Country Guesthouse in Deloraine, Tasmania which received many accolades including Best B&B by Gourmet Traveller Magazine
  
• They have now recently refurbished Glencoe Rural Retreat in classic French country style

  boasts a Tea Room which will be open to external guests, serving light lunches and afternoon tea
