Activities/Attractions: Shropshire is one of the least crowded and most peaceful areas of England. Now one of the few remaining rural idylls, it has a long history of wild border conflicts which have left a legacy of atmospheric hill orts, earthworks and castles.

Clun is a charming town in a remote area of south-west Shropshire, in the Welsh borderlands or 'Marches'. The town or village of Clun grew up around the site of the later Saxon church towards the end of the 7th century AD.  However, in the surrounding area there was a scattered population at least as early as the Neolithic period about 5000 years ago.

• Although Clun no longer has a market the Market Square is still one of the focal points of the town
  
• Interesting buildings to see in Clun include the 14th century packhorse bridge over the River Clun, the oldest in Shropshire, and the Trinity Hospital and Almshouses dating from 1614
  
• If you are visiting here the Clun Local History Museum, housed in the Town Hall, illustrates the intriguing history of the town
  
• Clun is a good base for exploring Bury Ditches, Offa's Dyke, Caer Caradoc and the Marches on your walking holiday
  
• Each year, at the beginning of May, the small town stages the Clun Green Man Day to ensure the safe arrival of summer
  
• Shops: The nearest shops and post office are in Clun (1 mile). Butchers, groceries, newsagent, gift shops, general store, antique shops, art gallery, museum

The fully restored property nestles in 20 acres of woods and wonderful walks on the hillside high above the historic village of Clun.
