Activities/Attractions: Rarotonga, with its jagged peaks, deep valleys, fertile slopes of red earth and sparkling aquamarine lagoon, is the emerald jewel of the Pacific. Rarotonga rises 14,750 feet above the ocean floor and is just 20 miles (32 kilometres) in circumference. The island is surrounded by a lagoon which extends several hundred yards to the reef which then slopes steeply to deep water.
Around the central mountainous area of this beautiful island is
a narrow band of agricultural terraces and flats which, in turn, is
encircled by a ring of swamps used largely for growing taro.
Rarotonga's central peaks are the eroded remains of a once
mighty volcanic pyramid whose crags now form saw tooth peaks and
razorback ridges, covered with tropical jungle and separated by
streams running down steep valleys.
Rarotonga enjoys temperatures of between 64ºF (18ºC) and
82ºF (28ºC) in the southern winter which is May to
October, and between 70ºF (21ºC) and 84ºF
(29ºC) in the summer which spans November to April.
One of the main attractions of the island is that it is a real place, not a manufactured destination point for tourists. The entire island has a truly relaxed atmosphere that is increasingly hard to find on our planet. It is an idyllic place for travellers seeking lost horizons and for those interested in the ways of Polynesia.

General Information: Welcome to Tangaroa's Cove ... a locally owned beach home in Rarotonga, Cook Islands with accommodation that occupies the entire ground floor. It has two ensuite bedrooms, one with twin single beds and the other with a queen size bed. Bi-fold doors lead to a deck and swimming pool. A bridge walkway crosses a stream to the sand and the waters of the lagoon - ideal for photographs and a prime spot for wedding photographs.
The sun rises behind the Motu (small islets) and the scenery is serene. The beach home is ideally suited to one or two couples or families of four. We would prefer children to be 12 years and over because of our swimming pool. Features include:

Hut is situated at Matavera village on the beachside. The unit
has 2 single beds which can be made into a double and an ensuite
shower and toilet as well as a kitchen and a deck overlooking the
beach.
