You can fish numerous sheltered islands on Wabigoon or Dinorwic Lake. Venture into one of the many chain lakes connected by winding creeks and rivers. "My brother and I made our first visit to Merkel's Camp about 17 years ago. We based our decision on which camp to go to using brochures sent to us by the Dryden Chamber of Commerce. This was going to be our first fishing trip to Canada and we had no idea what to expect of the lodging or the fishing on Lake Wabigoon. That was 17 years ago and we have not gone anywhere else nor have we even entertained the idea of trying another place. That's how good it is! I could tell about all the large fish we've caught (and we've caught alot! - got pictures to prove it) and I could tell about the bear hunting (which is great) and I could tell about the scenery (which is beautiful) but the thing that comes to my mind first is the owners of the camp and their hospitality. For me, Merkel's camp is as good as it gets. It's a great time with good friends and something fun for the whole family."

General Information: Welcome to Merkel's Camp ... situated on a beautifully treed point overlooking Wabigoon Lake with housekeeping wilderness cabin rentals, B&B and RV Sites right on the lakeshore. Merkel's Camp is located midway between two Great Lakes - Wabigoon and Dinorwic! With housekeeping cabins and RV sites right on the lakeshore, your vacation doesn't get any better! We offer American Plan as well as a modified meal plan - tailored to your needs!
Merkel’s Camp has been operating since 1962 and is a family tradition. In all aspects Merkel’s Camp is 100% owned and operated by Canadians. It began with Terry’s grandparents, Clarence and Violet Merkel. Wabigoon Lake and Dinorwic Lake offer excellent Walleye, Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass fishing as well as Perch, and world class Muskie fishing. Accommodations include:
Five Housekeeping Cabins with spectacular lake views are ready for your stay with:

- Propane hot water tank and heat
- Gas grills on decks
- Screened in fish cleaning house with running water and
extra freezing space
The Little Basket is our 24' x 48' outpost cabin located on Little Basket Lake with water access to Big Basket. All of the conveniences of home await you with hot and cold running water, bathroom, shower and sink plus a wood stove. The power is solar generated with a generator for back up so you have total peace and quiet.
- Our modern cabin has 3 bedrooms and will accommodate up
to 10 people comfortably
- You'll find the large fully modern kitchen/living
area to be ideal for socializing
- An evening in the screened porch brings a perfect end
to a day on the lake
- What a great place to talk about the day's catch
while listening to the loons and watching the northern

- The 14' x 16' sauna, dock and sandy beach

- Our new screened in fish cleaning house with running

At Merkel's Bed & Breakfast you also enjoy the use of a paddleboat, canoe, sauna and hot tub and we have boat rentals. For those who would like to combine their stay with the outdoors, bring along rod and tackle, camera, snowmobile equipment, guns for hunting, golf clubs or simply suntan lotion. Our accommodations include:
