Activities/Attractions: Kettering is a small fishing town 25km south of Hobart. It is a haven for yachtsmen that explore the wonderful waterways of the D'entrecasteaux Channel. It is the port where a vehicular ferry leaves for the beautiful and historic Bruny Island. Kettering is situated in a bay known as Little Oyster Cove and to the north is another bay known as Oyster Cove. These two places play a profound part in Tasmania's history.
Today the area is noted for its orchards (apples, cherries, pears) and Kettering has become an important service centre for the local farmers. Like so much of the area south of Hobart, it has become a centre for commuters and alternative lifestyle dwellers who find the peacefulness suits them.
Kettering is the centre for fishing in the region. It has two major marinas, South Haven Marina and Oyster Cove Marina, as well as many smaller, privately owned jetties. The Bruny Island Ferry, Mirambeena, runs from Kettering numerous times a day. This service brings many people into Kettering and gives the local shops a roaring trade.

The property, five acres of landscaped gardens, attracts an abundance of wildlife, including the rare species of bird - the Forty Spotted Pardalote - unique to this part of Tasmania.
