General Information: Welcome to Taupo Garden Lodge ... offering luxury bed and breakfast accommodation set amidst a private 3 acre garden, one mile from the Lake Taupo township in the Central Plateau of New Zealand. Taupo Garden Lodge is a small, elegant, fishing boutique Inn, beside the mountain-fed Waikato River.

William and Suzanne are fourth-generation New Zealanders, caring for you in their happy and thoughtful way - knowledgeable about the nation, its people and in particular the local places of beauty and activity. They have lived at Awahuri since 1964 and believe your stay with them will be memorable in this travellers' haven. They share it with Bart, their 5 year old black Labrador dog!

While the Lodge is very close to Lake Taupo town centre, it's endowed with complete privacy, with the major upriver view 65 miles to the South to the 7-9,000 foot mountains. The accommodation has a warm character and is simply furnished with specially-designed tasteful wooden furniture. Both suites have exclusive bathrooms.

• the main living and dining rooms are in a 16 x 38 foot, open-planned space, well-furnished and traditionally comfortable, with the fireplace as a warm focus in winter
  
• in summer, chairs are turned through 180 degrees to view the garden and pools through 12 foot sliding doors and windows - bringing the outside in very effectively
  
• the Hindmarsh's eat with you in the dining room around their ancient large table which can be extended to seat 14 people
  
• breakfast, at a time to suit you, is a conversational affair with colourful antique Belle Fiore china and King's Husk Silverware, interspersed with natural juices, fruits and yoghurts, varied cereals, fresh flowers on the table and elsewhere, together with super tasty cooked dishes from Suzanne's portfolio
  
• three ponds and a waterfall are adjacent to the lodge, and Suzanne and Willy have crafted the garden's natural contours to contain hidden pleasures
  

The Garden Suite is spacious, secure, private and quiet (surrounded by gorgeous garden) with a superking sized, very comfortable bed, an exclusive ensuite bathroom, a lovely double bay window in the main room for morning sun, correspondence and reading.

The Heron Suite is inside the Lodge, generous and comfortable with Persian rugs, a sofa and table, together with coffee and tea facilities and large ensuite bathroom.
