Despite the influx of people, the town retains its friendly and intimate atmosphere at all times. Killarney is probably best known for its superb scenery, the heart of which is Killarney National Park, Ireland's first National Park, and one of its largest. The National Park comprises over 25,000 acres of mountains, woodlands and waterways, and includes the famous 'Lakes of Killarney'. It is readily accessible to the visitor, whether driving, cycling or on foot. Landmarks in the town include Ross Castle, and Killarney Cathedral (designed by Pugin and finally completed in the 1920's after some eighty years of construction work). Things to see and do include:

The rooms were clean, cheery, sky lights and TV. Biggest bathroom of all the B&Bs with a bathtub. Ask Rosemary to make porridge in the morning for you. She has a special way of doing it and it is great. Thanks Rosemary for a great stay!" "My wife and I stayed with the O'Connells at Oaklawn for three days. We absolutely loved the house and the hosts. My brother and I stayed there in 2004 and it was every bit as good as the first time. I know that my wife and I will get back to Killarney in the near future and we will definitely stay at Oaklawn. It is so close to everything and is very reasonable." "We stayed at Oaklawn House B&B in March and had a wonderful time ... The rooms were beautiful, ours was toward the back of the house, everything in wood. The beds were great. The breakfast was wonderful. There were sitting areas all around the house, and well maintained gardens. Oaklawn is very close to town, all of a five minute walk to some great food and entertainment! We stayed in several B&B's on our two week trip, and Oaklawn House was definitely toward the top of the list. We would definitely stay there again!" |
