Activities/Attractions: With two-thirds of the island designated as National Park, St. John is the most undeveloped, easygoing and laid back of the three major U.S. Virgin Islands. There are only two major resorts on the island, and the beaches are unspoiled by large hotels or development.
The main industry here is tourism, and there is plenty to do on St. John, despite its small size – just 28 square miles. A nature lover will have no problem keeping busy on St. John. The island offers many different hiking trails, including easy trails for inexperienced hikers or families with young children, to challenging trails for the avid hiker.
Snorkeling is also a favorite activity on St. John. Several of the island's beautiful beaches boast reefs teeming with colorful fish and underwater wildlife. Venture out on your own, or take advantage of a guided snorkeling tour.
A quick drive and nice walk (1 mile) away, the town of Coral Bay has restaurants/bars fun shops and a convenient open air deli and market. Also, in the neighborhood, is a horseback riding coral.
Cruz Bay, about a 20 minute drive from Louisenhoj, is a bustling little island town, filled with wonderful shops and markets, and fabulous and funky restaurants/bars galore.

General Information: Welcome to Louisenhoj (Lou-eez-en-hoy) in St. John, Virgin Islands ... a charming island home settled into a lush hillside looking out over the turquoise waters of Coral Bay. While relaxing on the spacious decks, enjoy a panorama of sail boats out in the bay, and the British Virgin Islands off in the distance. This lovely, well-maintained 2+ bedroom villa is comfortable and economical.
Louisenhoj is a favorite villa rental for couples and small families. With expansive decks for lounging, sunning, and even outdoor dining, the villa uses the magnificent views to enhance the vacation experience of its guests. Designed to maximize the breathtaking view and Caribbean breezes, Louisenhoj provides all that is the essence of Caribbean living:
- an open airy feeling with high vaulted ceilings,
surrounded by flowers, fruit trees and palms
- expansive sliding glass doors leading onto spacious
covered and open decks; perfect for sunbathing, dining, sitting,
and stargazing in the moonlight
- the Great Room living and dining areas a true feeling of home
with a full entertainment center consisting of a CD player, VCR,
and cable TV
- the kitchen and dining area is also part of the Great
Room. The island dining counter easily seats four. The kitchen is
fully-equipped with microwave, coffeemaker, blender, gas stove and oven, and
refrigerator
- the main floor is also home to two queen bedroom
suites, each with sliding glass doors opening onto open
decks
- the master suite features a double sink vanity and a
private outdoor shower. The second bedroom also boasts a private
bath
- a spiral staircase leads from the Great Room to a
spacious Loft living area with another deck
- the loft features a queen bed with a
movable privacy screen, a futon couch which easily converts to a double bed, a
coffee table and small library of books for quieter moments of
relaxation
Donna & Mark also have a smaller home, Coral Dream, located near Louisenhoj. It has one bedroom with queen bed, a sleeping loft with queen bed, 2 baths, outdoor shower and a full kitchen/great room extending onto a large screened porch with fabulous views of Coral Bay and the BVI.
