There
isn’t just one Mexican cuisine at our restaurant but a country full of
regional specialities. Featured here are some of the best from Puebla,
Veracruz and Oaxaca. Enjoy! The chefs at Casa de Matéo pride
themselves on preparing the best in authentic Mexican cuisine. No
commercially prepared or Tex-Mex dishes here! "Casa de Mateo offered a clean room, with a comfortable king size bed and plenty of space for $92/night ... The service was very friendly ... The restaurant below (Casa de Mateo) was excellent authentic Mexican cuisine. The area around this hotel boasts numerous delicious restaurants and beautiful architecture. It is literally around the corner from the Notre Dame Basilica, blocks from the port and about a five minute walk from the Place des Armes metro station. We were able to take the metro from the train station right to Place des Armes and walk the 4 to 5 blocks to Case de Mateo. It was very convenient! I would stay again." "This cheery, lively and festive space captures some of the feeling of Mexico with its troubadours and open kitchen, where tortillas are hand-rolled and baked. The setting (within a double dining room) is designed with parties in mind. A definite must is the freshly churned guacamole, followed by Shrimp a la Diabla. Dessert is an extra treat, featuring bananas flambeed in liqueur and tequila." |

"My room was very basic and spotlessly clean as was the shared bathroom. The bed appeared to be new and extremely comfortable. The management (especially the lady in the Reception Office were pleasant and very helpful as were the Restaurant staff) ... it was in a fabulous location in Old Montreal. For $60 a night it was great value." "Simple, charming restaurant with typical plates from Mexico, like the tortillas with shrimps and guacamole. Nice fiesta atmosphere on Saturdays, when the Mariachis perform." "My husband & I stayed at Casa de Mateo recently and were thrilled with the location - it's literally around the corner from the Notre Dame Basilica in Old Montreal ... the manageress was very nice and let us store our luggage all day on the day we checked out and, again, you can't beat staying in Old Montreal! We would go back." |
